1. How can I search for labels in the museum?
Answer: To search the museum for specific labels, use the Quick Search Box located on the bottom left of specific pages or the Advanced Search function found in the top menu bar. Try inputting the brand name, the packer's name, the packing house, city, or state to find search results.

2. How can I interpret the Rarity of a label?
Answer: When a label is first placed in the museum, we value its rarity through market price research in combination with the popularity of the design and the label's availability on the collecting market. Then the label's rarity rating evolves as visiting collectors rate its rarity through our rating system. Please participate in this rating system if you are familiar with the availability of particular labels. The results are mathematically translated through a five star rating system as shown below. Due to the fluctuation of retail pricing for crate labels, we have decided not to place a dollar value with this system.

Common (Common)
Scarce (Scarce)
Scarce to Rare (Very Scarce)

Exceptionally Rare (Very Rare)

3. How can I send a postcard?
Answer: You can send a postcard via e-mail of any label in this gallery. Simply visit the detail page of the image by clicking on its thumbnail and then click on the postcard icon . Enter your name, e-mail address, and a message for the recipient and select the postcard style according to your preferences. When complete, click on the postcard preview button (from here you can also return to the card to make changes). Your postcard will remain on our server for 10 days. You will be informed when the postcard was picked-up by the recipient via e-mail.

4. How can I print or save a copy of a label?

In order to print a copy of a label, click on the printer icon in the detail page. You can also right click and select "Print Picture" with a PC. To save an image file, right click and select "Save Picture As".

5. What if I have labels not listed in this museum?
Answer: This is a project in the making and we are seeking crate label images from the public. We appreciate all donations to the museum and add donor names to our Volunteers & Donors list on the About page. If you would like to donate images, we accept .jpg, .gif, and .tiff digital files; color copies of original labels, and original labels to scan. Please tell us how you would like your name to appear on the donor's list and include any information about the label(s) such as printer name, label size, etc. you may know. Then please e-mail us to say you will be sending the files via e-mail or postal mail. Our postal address is below. We also have an Upload link available for individuals that request permission to directly upload images. Please contact the administrator for more information.

6. What is the Catalog SKU used for?
Answer: Data collection requires information to be well organized for quick and accurate retrieval. Some collectors and historians visiting this site will be searching for specific labels to acquire. We adopted the database of CrateArt.com early on in the creation of this site. The search page at CrateArt.com has been programmed to accept the Catalog SKU for labels displayed in this gallery. If you submit the Catalog SKU of a particular label on CrateArt.com's search page, it will appear if it is available, or you will receive a message stating it cannot be located. If one is not available, use the CrateArt Forum to place a Want Ad and refer to the Catalog SKU as there can be different variations of the same label.

7. Where can I purchase crate labels?
Answer: We highly recommend the CrateArt.com web site. Our catalog numbers correspond with theirs and they support this web site through their retail sales. Crate labels can also be found in antique stores, estate sales and through select ephemera dealers.

8. Will you assist in helping to locate crate labels?
Answer: Sorry, but this web site operates totally on volunteer time. We cannot assist you in a crate label search, but we recommend using the CrateArt Forum for placing a Want Ad. When placing a Want Ad, refer to the Catalog SKU as there can be a few variations of the same label.

9. How do I donate label images to the museum?
Answer: We appreciate all donations to the museum and add donor names to our Volunteers & Donors list on the About page.

10. Can you recommend books on crate labels, printers, etc. ?
